How the application works

A metals IRA is a self-directed IRA held at a custodian equipped to hold physical metal. The application is the custodian's, not ours — we prepare it with you and stay on the call while it is completed, but the account and your personal information sit with the custodian.

We deliberately do not collect Social Security numbers, account numbers or financial details through this website. That information belongs in the custodian's own secure application, not in a web form.

What you will need

• Your Social Security number (given directly to the custodian, not to us)
• A recent statement from the account you intend to transfer from
• The name of your current provider and the account type — IRA, 401(k), 403(b), TSP or similar
• Beneficiary details

It usually takes about fifteen minutes on a call together, and the account is generally open within one to two business days.

Then what

Once the account is open, the new custodian requests the funds from your current provider — that step is handled between the two institutions, so nothing passes through your hands and it is not a distribution. When the funds land, we go through the eligible products and the actual premium on each before anything is bought.

There is no obligation to buy anything once the account is open.
